The Toy Box Nursery - Beckenham

The Toy Box is a purpose built nursery for 150 children in South London taking design inspiration from its namesake. Four square pavilions are offset around a central hub rising up as each age group (Babies, Toddles and Pre-school) transcend from space to space, with the final central box providing shared facilities around a central circulation and reception space.

Each toy box has its own identity represented through playful coloured shapes pushed and pulled through the façade. The building is set back from the road, to the side of a park immersed in nature. The layout of the building provides every classroom with direct access out into its own dedicated play space.

We’re excited to see the project starting on site at the beginning of 2026 with a planned opening later this year.
